These articles present the real thoughts and feelings of everyday average atheists. We are friends and family. We are doctors and lawyers. We are pharmacists, biologists, and engineers. We are ordinary people who see a universe that is bigger than any god man has ever imagined. For billions of people around the globe, god and religion are the biggest things in their lives. Even for those not very devout believers, their belief is a part of how they think about themselves and for most of them god is very big. However, for a small minority of people the idea of god is small and pitiful. We look out into the universe and see something so amazing that it could not possibly be the work of these tiny imagined gods of mankind. These gods whom we are given that display such ignoble traits as jealousy and outright hubris. We see the harm that religion brings to humanity. We see the injustice, inequality, and division amongst men that it causes. We see humanity being stifled by these religions and these tiny gods. We at Atheist Republic have a message we have steadily tried to convey. That message is that we as human beings are bigger than these imaginary gods. We believe that humanity is greater than gods and doctrines.

Funny, serious, insightful and interesting as hell (no pun intended). Whether you're a believer or not I'd highly recommend this reading because for those of you who are theists, this book will challenge your beliefs and really force you to analyze your religion and the reasons for why you believe in a higher power. And if you're an athiest (like myself) then this book will help you to better understand and articulate why you're not a believer. This book is built on personal essays and testimonies that are filled with scientific proof, logic and reasoning as well as emotional and thought provoking material that will help you better understand why athiests don't believe and how being an athiest can be fulfilling and worthwhile.Product details

The essays are fine, but since these are downloaded/downloadable files, my gets confused. I'm getting frustrated! The keeps shutting down. Now I can't upload items I want to get simply because the blog title refuses to go away.
PLEASE CHANGE THE FORMATTING!!!
I've for a long time been a nonbelievers in any organized religion. However, I was reluctant to read any anti-religious book. If felt that many of these books were filled with rants by uneducated people. This book is different. Many of the authors of these essays are educated thoughtful individuals. While I do not agree with everything, I can respect their logical way of presenting information. I would highly recommend that all people no matter belief just read it with an open mind. I know I will continue to read books by the atheist republic.
A excellent collection of essays. Any skeptic or non believer can find words of wisdom in this book. I only wish that some of my religious friends and family would read this. One author who stood out was Casper Rigsby. In the last essay he says that we have to speak out and he's right. Yes, people are allowed to believe whatever they want. But by the same token, we are allowed to criticize and not only does this book do that, but it does so in a thorough and logical manner. It breaks issues down into sections and you get many points of view on certain subjects. Which is great because if you don't quite agree with one, then you get another point of view soon after. This is the kind of book that can be easily read in your spare time, leaving you with the option of putting it down, even frequently if needs be (great if you have a busy schedule!).
I very much enjoyed reading this book cover to cover. As with every book, it must be read thoughtfully. It contains many ideas by a number of essayists. Some I agree with wholeheartedly, and others I take with a grain of salt. I am very glad to have read it. It sparked some new thoughts that will make my life more enjoyable for myself, and that will help me communicate more effectively with the theists that surround me. Thank you for this wonderful book!
The authors in this book will not refer to the benefits that individuals attain when they join religious groups, but still make their points with actual quotes from religious texts, and events and societal issues that occur when religion becomes a base for public policy, and individual thought. It is also astonishing to see how "religious" atheists can be. The authors really do study religion well enough to disprove it.
As an atheist, I did not obtain this book to help make up my mind what to believe. That is not surprising as most of the reviews here are written by people whose opinions didn't change a bit after reading it. I read it because of the apparent diversity of topics and viewpoints I saw in the table of contents. And I also thought it might be interesting because the essays are not written by the bestselling atheist writers but by people who write blogs, or who are writing for a personal reason.
Still, I can't say I enjoyed every essay.. A few I ended up skimming or skipping, but not because the were poorly written but rather because the topic didn't appeal to me. But I am sure other readers read those essays and skipped ones that I liked. Another feature of the edition is that it provides links at the end of the essays in case you want to dig a little deeper. I recommend this book to the perpetually curious and critical thinkers who want to broaden their awareness.
Everyone should read this collection of essays and then evaluate the relevance of religion in the world we live today. Religion definitely never should be used as a moral compass for society. This book will explain why more and more people are seeing religion as the source of wars, division within community, hate crimes justified by a god claiming to be loving and a self inflicted burden about prospects of life which religion has no business trying to regulate. Of course if you consider the time frame you live in as "CAVEMEN and NOMADIC HUNTER GATHERERS", perhaps religion will still be valid in your life. Earthquakes were considered a sign that Odin was displeased in some way.
Open your mind and be a realist about science. Science asks mankind to evaluate the world we live in. Religion tells you what to think, what to believe and who you may hate and who your god wants you to kill.
All of these premises of religion are evaluated in this book.
Funny, serious, insightful and interesting as hell (no pun intended). Whether you're a believer or not I'd highly recommend this reading because for those of you who are theists, this book will challenge your beliefs and really force you to analyze your religion and the reasons for why you believe in a higher power.
